Your answers stay in your browser

Everything you enter in the walkthrough (your car, mileage, prices, insurance, loan) is saved in your browser's local storage so you can come back to it. It isn't sent to us. Clearing your browser data removes it.

Car lookups

When you look up a VIN or pick a year and model, the request passes through our server to the EPA's fuel economy database and NHTSA's VIN decoder and recall database. We don't save those lookups.

Reminder list

If you join the reminder list, we store your email address, the car you looked up (year, make, model), the odometer and yearly miles you entered, which reminders you picked, and your insurance renewal date if you gave one. We use them only to send those reminders. We don't sell or share them. Every reminder email will include a way to stop them, and you can ask us to delete your information at any time.

Usage counts

We count how many people start the walkthrough, which steps they reach, and how many finish or join the reminder list. Each count is tied to a random id stored in your browser, plus the car's make, year and type. It contains no name, email or answers. We also use Vercel Web Analytics for page views, which doesn't use cookies.
